It consists of three main components: the sun gear, the planet gears, and the ring gear.
Components:

  1. Sun Gear: The central gear around which the planet gears rotate.
  2. Planet Gears: Multiple gears that rotate around the sun gear and are mounted on a carrier.
  3. Ring Gear: The outer gear with internal teeth that mesh with the planet gears.

Working Principle:

  • The sun gear is connected to the input shaft and drives the planet gears.
  • The planet gears, in turn, revolve around the sun gear and mesh with the stationary ring gear.
  • The planet carrier, which holds the planet gears, transmits the reduced speed and increased torque to the output shaft.
